1. A young talent
Darci Lynne Farmer was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She received her first puppet from her parents for her 10th birthday. Her ventriloquism talent was brought to the 12th season of “America’s Got Talent” and she went on to become the youngest contestant ever to win the competition at age 12.
2. Discovering the arts
In her younger years, Lynne participated in talent-based pageants to overcome her shyness. She was soon introduced to the art of ventriloquism and decided to try it out for herself. Her hard work, grit and discipline developed from her early days of gymnastics, where she practiced 30 hours a week.
3. Bringing in the numbers
During her “America’s Got Talent” audition, Lynne was able to bypass any cuts after Mel B pressed the Golden Buzzer. More than 21 million people tuned in to the season 12 finale, which gained an additional 306 million views on social media. A record 52 millions votes were cast the evening of the finale. The performance became the most viewed in show history and was named number four on YouTube’s Top Viral Videos of 2017.
4. Just getting started
Lynne’s headlining gig at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas sold out in six minutes. Two shows were added as a result of the high demand. Lynne has appeared on numerous television shows including “Ellen,” “The Today Show,” and Food Network’s “Kids Baking Competition,” and she has her own holiday special airing on NBC in December 2018.
5. Worldwide recognition
Lynne’s talents have been recognized by other great ventriloquists. Terry Fator (fellow “America’s Got Talent” alum and winner) said of Darci Lynne, “She is one of the most unbelievable, perfect ventriloquists I’ve ever seen, and she’ll only get better.”
