A Broadway season of love at The Hanover Theatre

“Five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes.
Five hundred twenty-five thousand moments so dear.
Five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes.
How do you measure, measure a year?”

How do you measure a year? In the memories you make? The good times you’ve had? Do you measure it based on your success and accomplishments?

The Broadway musical RENT has measured the years for more than two decades now and brings its 20th anniversary production to The Hanover Theatre for the Performing Arts next April. The audience favorite inspires with its message of joy and hope despite challenging times. It provides an important answer to the question at hand, too. We should measure our lives with the one measurement that truly matters: love.

Here are some of the ways our upcoming Broadway shows measure the seasons.

A Christmas Story, The MusicalFAMILY: When love and family come together at the holidays, the results can be hilarious. This month, A Christmas Story, The Musical follows young Ralphie Parker’s quest for the perfect Christmas gift, his father’s odd obsession with “a major award” and his mother’s loving and knowing care for her family.

LOVE: Celebrate the new year with Cabaret! The Kander and Ebb musical poses the questions of how to define love and what to do when the hate threatens society. The answers are thought provoking.

SUCCESS: Opening in February, Something Rotten! follows Nick and Nigel Bottom, brothers who desperately want to write a brilliant play. Their focus changes when a local soothsayer tells them their success will come from writing the world’s first musical!

FRIENDSHIP: Opening in March, Jersey Boys follows the road to success for The Four Seasons. The group’s unique sound and strong friendships kept them moving forward despite a rocky road.

Bright StarMEMORIES: Opening in April, Bright Star tells a sweeping tale of love and redemption as a woman’s past makes a surprising visit to her present.

WHISTLING A HAPPY TUNE: Closing our Broadway season in May, The King and I brings together two strangers from  different worlds. Anna Leonowens, a British schoolteacher, moves to Siam to teach the children of the king. As world views clash, a special friendship is born, and neither will never be the same again.

We hope you’ll measure your life by the memories and friendships you develop at the theatre. We certainly know of some actors who measure their lives by the shows they’re in!
