The Nutcracker 2025

Each year, The Hanover Theatre and Conservatory is proud to present The Nutcracker on Thanksgiving weekend.

Auditions will be held on Sunday, September 7, 2025.

Dear Dancers and Families,

Welcome dancers that are new to us and welcome back to those that have auditioned with us before! We are excited to see the skills, technique, talent and growth you bring to auditions this year. The Hanover Theatre and Conservatory’s production of The Nutcracker is a professional production that we take great pride in. In just 10 weeks, dancers learn choreography, embody their character through impeccable ballet technique and learn how their role fits into the narrative of the show. Due to the quick timeline of this show, it is imperative that dancers and families can honor the time commitment required for rehearsals, tech week and fittings. Dancers are expected to conduct themselves professionally, whether it be in the way they interact with staff and fellow dancers or how they conduct themselves in the dressing room during a 10-hour technical rehearsal. This is an environment of learning and focus that brings joy to many dancers, but it can be difficult for those that may need constant activity or attention. We ask that you make sure your dancer is ready for this level of production as we strive to make sure the dancers in our care thrive both onstage and offstage. We look forward to working with you and your dancer, whether it be for audition day only or throughout the rehearsal and show process.

In order to be considered for an audition, dancers must meet the following criteria:

• Age 7+ by Labor Day (Monday, September 1, 2025)
• Able to attend ALL mandatory dates listed on page 6 and 7 of the Audition Information Packet, including all of Production Week
• Dancers aged 10+ must be enrolled in a ballet class at a dance studio

How we assess it: a technical ballet class where dancers work on barre exercises, center practice, and combinations en diagonale.

How we assess it: learn and perform choreography sections from The Nutcracker
*There will be an optional workshop for Group A callbacks to preview and practice assessed choreography from 3:15-4:30, prior to callbacks.
