Jamie Wax has new play as inaugural playwright-in-residence at THT Rep

Louisiana native, playwright, journalist, actor and comedian Jamie Wax has been pacing the floors of a third-floor apartment in a three-decker house in Worcester recently.

Wax says he’ll act out scenes that are in his head and then sit down at his laptop to write. “My writing process is so bizarre,” he said. Worcester is quite a bit away from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where “High Risk Ward,” the new play he’s been working, on is set. Wax grew up in Baton Rouge and now divides much of his time between living in New York City and New Orleans.

But he’s happy to be in Worcester as the inaugural playwright-in-residence of The Hanover Theatre Repertory, widely known as THT Rep.
