Volunteer Opportunities
Join Our Volunteer Family
Thank you for your interest in supporting The Hanover Theatre and Conservatory! As a nonprofit organization, our volunteers are the heart of what we do. Your time and talent allow us to bring the magic of the performing arts to our community.
We collect applications year-round, so please apply whenever you’re ready. Our formal interviewing and onboarding process typically takes place during the spring and summer months.
Join our mission and bring your energy to the stage. Being part of the THT team offers a unique opportunity to connect with fellow art lovers, support a world-class venue, and enjoy our deepest gratitude. Beyond the fulfillment of supporting the arts, our volunteers enjoy exclusive perks, including the Season Kick-Off Luncheon, Volunteer Recognition Night, and early access to new shows!
Events
Event Volunteers enhance the patron experience across all Hanover Theatre and Conservatory venues, including the Main Stage, Francis R. Carroll Plaza, the Conservatory & Event Center, and the BrickBox Theater at the JMAC.
Event Volunteers serve in vital roles such as Ushers, Ticket Takers, and Greeters. Primary tasks include:
- Welcoming and guiding patrons to their seats.
- Preparing and distributing programs and other printed materials.
- Providing exceptional customer service to ensure a memorable visit.
To ensure consistent support for our performances, we ask for the following commitment:
- In-Season (Labor Day – May): At least two shows per month.
- Off-Season: At least one show per month.
No experience is necessary. Training is provided before your first shift.
Administrative
Our administrative volunteers are vital to the theatre’s daily operations. By assisting with data entry, database management, and phone inquiries, they ensure our office stays organized. From prepping will-call tickets to coordinating large mailings, these volunteers provide the essential support that keeps our box office performing at its best.
Plaza Beautification
Plaza Beautification Volunteers help us keep Francis R. Carroll Plaza a vibrant and welcoming entrance for our patrons. Volunteers assist with essential groundskeeping, including weeding, mulching, and seasonal plantings. Responsibilities also include watering and caring for flower beds to ensure the plaza remains pristine and inviting.
Docent Tour Guides
After completing one full season of service, experienced volunteers may apply to become Docent Tour Guides. These ambassadors lead educational tours, sharing the rich history and stunning architecture of The Hanover Theatre with our guests.
Season Kick-Off Luncheon
At the start of each season, following training, we host a luncheon to welcome our new volunteers and give them an opportunity to meet our seasoned volunteers. Lunch is served, stories are shared and the volunteer of the year is announced!
Volunteer Recognition Night
At the end of each season in June, we host a recognition night for that season’s volunteers, their dedication and all the amazing things they do during the year. This is a fun-filled evening with dinner, prizes, awards, and lots of gratitude!
Early Access to New Shows
Current volunteers have a benefit attached to their accounts in our ticketing system giving them early access to tickets for most new shows before they go on sale to the public! Volunteers should ensure they are logged into their account before attempting to access tickets.
Suzie Wood
