Troy Siebels, president and CEO of the Hanover Theatre, sees many opportunities for precautions whenever the theater reopens. These guidelines could include shorter performances, resulting in less congestion during intermissions; scattered seating; sanitation stations; and different arrival times for guests.

“We are coming up with different scenarios and planning the best we can,” Director of Marketing and PR Lisa Condit said. “We really hope that we’re back in the main theater for the fall, so we can go forward with “The Nutcracker” and “A Christmas Carol” and kick off the Broadway season in January.”

Coronavirus forces Worcester’s Hanover Theatre to reschedule shows multiple times as some pushed to 2021
The coronavirus pandemic has already impacted about 30 shows at Worcester’s Hanover Theatre. CEO and President of the Hanover Theatre Troy Siebels told MassLive that he’s preparing for a 12 to 18-month period where patrons aren’t comfortable attending large gatherings.

‘Worcester cares about it’; Coronavirus expected to cost Hanover Theatre more than $1 million, but only 40% of ticket holders are now requesting refunds
More than 80% of customers requested a refund after Gov. Charlie Baker restricted large gatherings. Assuming it is closed through the end of June, The Hanover Theatre expects losses totaling $1.2 to $1.3 million.Event coordinators are using this time to implement strategies to allow patrons to feel safe attending events whenever they return.

With seasons on hold, Music Worcester, Mechanics Hall, Hanover turn to future
As in many avenues of life right now, nonprofit organizations that present live performances such as Music Worcester, The Hanover Theatre and Mechanics Hall are all just trying to navigate and stay afloat in circumstances that have never been seen before. The Hanover Theatre has or will be contacting ticket holders of its canceled/postponed shows with options that include a refund.

Millions of dollars are pouring in to help New York City arts groups. Will it inspire more?
The Boston-based Barr Foundation had awarded The Hanover Theatre a $750,000, two-year grant that included support for an outdoor stage. With $250,000 still remaining in the grant, the theater received permission to shift the money to general operating support.
