4th Wall Stage Company and Fitchburg State University present 12 Angry Jurors
March 15 - March 26, 2017
Event DescriptionBased on 12 Angry Men by Reginald Rose
Directed by Kelly Morgan
Produced by Barbara Guertin
Performed in the Myles & C. Jean McDonough Room located in The Hanover Theatre Event Center.
This classic American court room drama is set in present-day New York City - gender-neutral - ripe with all the fears, prejudice and anger present after the September 11th attacks, and colored by today's tumultuous political environment - a natural attraction for legal, social and educational advocates. The defense and the prosecution have rested and the jury is filing into the jury room to decide if a young Hispanic man is guilty or innocent of murdering his father. What begins as an open-and-shut case soon becomes a story that presents a succession of clues creating doubt, and a mini-drama of each of the jurors' prejudices and preconceptions about the trial, immigration, the criminal justice system, the accused, and each other. New York Times – “An Enduring Tale of Bigotry and Justice.” New York Magazine – “It is a nudge toward our leaving the theater a bit better than we entered it.”
